Promoting peace by linking people

Well, this is the start of our journey. This project started to be shaped in May 2007, and evolved into an integrated, multilingual social network which aims to contribute to a better, more informed, peaceful and responsible society. Our mission is to promote peace by linking people.

If you had a chance to travel, especially in countries (geographically or culturally) far from your native land, you surely noticed how different we all look in our customs and behaviour. At the same time, if you scratched the surface, you likely noticed that we are all so similar in our core needs: we all need to communicate, to belong, to be loved and love. We express these needs in different ways, but we all share them. Even people looking cold and detached have, into themselves, these needs, they just buried them so deep that it takes time to digg them up.

We believe that, by connecting people, we will all feel we have responsibilities. What we do in our dailylife, even small choices, can deeply affect people around us, and also the ones living far away. Also, we have a saying in peace and conflicts around the world.

Most of the countries which figthed never-ending wars are now peaceful, at least with each other. But there are many conflicts, all around the world, which need to be solved. At the end of WWI, driven by political and technical developments, peace seemed here to stay. Still, after a few years, the world was teared apart by bloody conflicts.

Without going into political, economical, storical, etc. details of why this happened, one point stands clear from the others: if peace is only in the mind of the “elites”, without involving the whole society in the process, peace is not strong enough to stand still, especially when such “elites” change their minds and make the mistake to think peace is not in their interest. Also, the importance of peace should be advocated everywhere, and not just in the countries which apparently benefited most from how recent political, economical, etc. events turned.

We hope you are in with us for this journey, which is going to be a lifetime one. The challenges are many, the rewards even more. While we do not think that social networks alone can change the world, all applications supporting freedom of expression can play an important role to make the world better. But, at the end of the day, it is always up to us: technology is a tool, here to serve our goals. We are free to set our goals as we wish, we hope to share the same mission!

For now, all the best and enjoy MyPacis.com!
